About Welwyn Lacrosse

We are a family club for anyone of any age, ability or experience. Whether you're completely new to the game, a uni student in the area for a few weeks, or an old hand wanting to get back on the wagon, we’d love to have you down at training!

We are based in Hertfordshire and train and play in the Welwyn/Hatfield area. We offer weekly training all year around with professional coaching. Click here for details of training/game locations.

A little history...

Welwyn Warriors Lacrosse Club was set up by Drexel University alumnus Dave Coldwell in 1998. Built on a strong junior programme, the club quickly developed into a well established hub for lacrosse in Hertfordshire (along with friends Hitchin Lacrosse Club), with the Men’s 1st team winning the SEMLA Premier League in 2010.

The club has a close connection to the University of Hertfordshire's Comets Lacrosse, having helped the team develop in recent years. Welwyn and the Comets continue to train together regularly, helping to maintain growth within both teams.

The club currently has 1 Men's team who compete in the SEMLA Division 1 and the East Anglia Local League, 1 Women’s team who compete in the SEWLA Division 2 North league, and for many years ran one of the largest junior tournaments in the UK, the Coldwell Cup, hosting up to 35 junior teams each year.

A mixed junior programme is regrowing after a short hiatus, with a close association with Applecroft School in Welwyn Garden City where the club trains during the summer.

The club boasts a wealth of lacrosse experience with current players and alumni having played or coached at both regional and international levels for:
